Donald Leon Higgins, Don to most who knew him, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who left us peacefully on August 14th, 2026, at the age of 81.
To his family and friends, he was generous, kind and a walking book of knowledge. He was always willing to provide a helping hand whether the task was big or small. You cannot remember Don without smiling because of his big personality and sense of humor.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Robi Higgins and Jewell Margaret (Gilbert) Higgins.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maudie (Chapman) Higgins; Son, Chris Higgins (Patty); Daughter, Debbie (Higgins) Byard (Michael); Grandchildren, Amanda Byard Dotson, Jeremy Byard, Zachary Byard; Brothers, Elvin Higgins and Wayne Higgins; and a host of extended family and friends.
Don has been called home, but his memory will live on in all of us.
A celebration of Life will be held on September 3rd, 2026 at the Blue Springs Christian Church, 7920 SW State Rd 7 Hwy, Blue Springs, Missouri. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00 a.m.
