In November, after the St. Clair County Food Banc, Osceola, publicly reached out to communities for help with donations to feed local families during the winter months, the Osceola Community Chamber of Commerce decided to step in and provide help, offering the chamber business location as a daily drop-off and storage location for residents to bring nonperishable food items.
Of the donated loads chamber staff and volunteers have transported to the food pantry, on Dec. 17, chamber staff reported 57 pounds of various food items they had taken to the pantry along with an additional 40 boxes of food products during the week of Christmas.
Aside from the many generous community members that have chosen to help through donations, The Friends of St. Clair County -owners of the Clearview Adult Daycare Center- also donated food from the daycare center after the center was temporarily closed in order to undergo physical and operational transition(s).
For those interested in helping the cause: Monetary and/or nonperishable donations may be dropped at the Osceola Chamber, located at 780 Second St., Monday through Friday, or at the St. Clair County Food Banc, at 510 Firth St. (also in Osceola), on Tuesdays.
